When Channel Zero decided to call it quits in 1997, they had released four albums in five years. These four albums granted them metal immortality. They started as an underground, grooving thrash metal band but soon became the biggest metal phenomenon in the Benelux, thanks to their third album, Unsafe, and its fresh, sharp sound. This album took them to the United States, where they toured the world alongside bands like Megadeth, Danzig, and Biohazard, and played at some of Europe’s biggest festivals.

In 1996, they released Black Fuel, produced by Attie Bauw. It quickly became the metal album of an entire generation. Yet despite a subsequent European tour with Body Count, Channel Zero disbanded in 1997. The band members each went their separate ways, thanking their legion of fans with a live CD from their Marktrock show.

But Channel Zero’s fans never forgot them. Proof of this was a spontaneous Facebook group in 2008 that begged for a band reunion. After much discussion, forgiveness, reflection, attempts, and re-evaluation, the news that everyone hoped for finally arrived: Franky, Tino, and Phil had reconnected. On January 22, 2009, Channel Zero played a one-off reunion show at Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, which sold out in under a minute… Channel Zero would eventually perform six sold-out AB shows for more than 12,000 people. All tickets were sold within an hour.

They became the biggest metal phenomenon in the Benelux.

Fourteen years after their last show, Channel Zero showed both old and new fans that they hadn’t lost their energy or raw power. The following summer, the band headlined the Graspop and Rock Werchter festivals. The enthusiasm and positive feedback from fans led the band back into the studio to experiment with new material.

June 2011: barely 12 months after their triumphant return to the metal stage, Channel Zero released their first album in 15 years, Feed ‘Em With a Brick. Both the press and fans loved it. Once again, Channel Zero dominated metal stages in Belgium and beyond, with club shows in the Benelux, European metal festivals like Wacken and Hellfest, and even a spot on the notorious 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise.
